It’s Rating Season.  Time to Play “The Game”

Some people have called for a moratorium on discussions of performance ratings, declaring “ratingless” PM a failure, that it now represents a passing fad.  Despite the rhetoric, managers all over the world are now preparing to rate their employees, like they do at this time every year.  And, like every year, most will be unhappy.  The problem isn’t ratings, it “the game.”  Here is my take on “the game” and why you should abandon it (along with ratings).
